Ferrol, 1st of March 2024.- Tomorrow, Saturday 2nd March, between 09:00 and 18:00 hours, the Industrial Campus of Ferrol will host the tenth edition of the FIRST<\/em> LEGO League Galicia, a championship in which a total of 43 teams participate (25 in the FLL Challenge category, 16 in the FLL Explore and 2 in the FLL Discover) and more than 300 young men and women from all over Galicia. The event, coordinated by Professor Jos\u00e9 Antonio Becerra Permuy, can be followed live on FLL Galicia’s official YouTube channel<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The presentations of the Innovation Projects will take place in the Faculty of Humanities and Documentation and in the Polytechnic School of Engineering of Ferrol, the Robot Game in the Pavilion of Esteiro, and the awards ceremony, scheduled for 16:00 hours, in the Municipal Auditorium.<\/p>\n

Throughout the day, the rector of the University of A Coru\u00f1a, Ricardo Cao; the vice-rector of the Ferrol Campus and Social Responsibility, Ana Ares; the councillor for Education, University and Linguistic Policy of the City Council of Ferrol, Patricia Cons; the director of the Industrial Campus of the University of A Coru\u00f1a, Marcos M\u00edguez; the territorial secretary of the Xunta de Galicia, Patricia Busto, will visit the Industrial Campus of Ferrol and the Municipal Auditorium; the dean of the Official College of Industrial Engineers of Galicia (ICOIIG), Julio Garc\u00eda Cordon\u00e9; the president of Ingenier@Soy, Javier Butrague\u00f1o; the general director of Entrepreneurship and Employment Support of the Xunta de Galicia, Margarita Ardao; the director of the Polytechnic School of Engineering of Ferrol (EPEF), Vicente D\u00edaz; the representative of Gabadi, Jos\u00e9 Luis Manso; the head of Marketing of PuntoGal, Cristina R\u00edos; or the mayoress of the City Council of Nar\u00f3n, Mari\u00e1n Ferreiro; among other authorities.<\/p>\n

As every year, the Xunta de Galicia, through the Direcci\u00f3n Xeral de Emprendemento e Apoio ao Emprego – dependent on the Conseller\u00eda de Promoci\u00f3n do Emprego e Igualdade -, the Deputaci\u00f3n Provincial da Coru\u00f1a and the Concello de Ferrol collaborate in this initiative. In addition, FLL Galicia is sponsored by the company Gabadi SL, the Ilustre Colexio Oficial de Enxe\u00f1e\u00f1eiros Industriais de Galicia (ICOIIG),the Colexio Profesional de Enxe\u00f1ar\u00eda Inform\u00e1tica de Galicia (CPEIG), Gadis, ERROR! Ferrol, PuntoGal, Neodyn and Todo Ocio.<\/p>\n

What is FIRST<\/em> LEGO League?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The FIRST<\/em> LEGO League is an international programme that challenges young people between the ages of 4 and 16, divided into 3 categories, to solve real-world problems, such as recycling, education and renewable energies. Through their resolution, young people enjoy science and technology. At the same time, they learn valuable skills for their professional and personal future, such as teamwork, problem solving and communication.<\/p>\n

The FIRST<\/em> LEGO League challenge in Spain<\/strong><\/p>\n

Since 2022, the Association ingeniera.soy is the entity that promotes the FIRST<\/em> LEGO League in Spain in collaboration with 20% of Spanish universities, technology parks and innovation promotion entities as partners. In addition, the initiative is possible thanks to the collaboration of companies and entities that connect participants to STEAM skills and professions.<\/p>\n

How does FIRST<\/em> LEGO League work?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Each season, the FIRST<\/em> The LEGO League will allow young people to see the wide range of opportunities in the STEAM industry by exploring them as part of the MASTERPIECE<\/strong>, a challenge in which they will learn how science, technology, engineering and mathematics are related to the arts in surprising ways. Its ultimate goal will be to imagine and innovate new ways of creating and communicating art around the world.<\/p>\n

The teams have to solve this challenge in three work areas:<\/p>\n
