Ferrol, April 9th, 2024.- More than 100 ESO and BACH students from different parts of Galicia are participating this Friday, April 12th, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., in the III Robotics Olympiad organized by the Polytechnic School of Engineering of Ferrol (EPEF) in collaboration with the Industrial Campus of the University of A Coru\u00f1a. The competition will take place in the indoor pavilion of the Esteiro Primary Children’s Education Center and the award ceremony, scheduled for 2:00 p.m., in the Concepci\u00f3n Arenal Auditorium of the Ferrol\u00e1n campus.<\/p>\n
Throughout the morning, the participating students, divided into 26 teams of between three and six people, will have to overcome three challenges: one follows lines with obstacles, the “Barrendeiro” test and a sumo competition. In the obstacle course, the robot must follow a printed trajectory and overcome the obstacles that get in its way. In the “Sweeper” test, students will have to use algorithms similar to those used by hoovers or lawn mowers to sweep all the objects on the board. The highest score will go to the team that manages to clear all the objects on the board in the shortest possible time. Finally, in the sumo competition, the teams will measure their strength in a face-to-face, in which they must expel the opposing robot from the game board.<\/p>\n
This III Robotics Olympiad will be attended by secondary and high school students from the Compa\u00f1\u00eda de Mar\u00eda Plurilingual School and Salvador de Madariaga Secondary School in Coru\u00f1a, Saturnino Montojo Secondary School, Tirso de Molina Secondary School and Cristo Rey Secondary School in Ferrol, Nuestra Se\u00f1ora del Carmen La Grande Obra de Atocha Plurilingual Primary School in Betanzos and Perdouro Secondary School in Burela.<\/p>\n
