The disinformation and the spreading of false news, to be debated at the next conference of the Jorge Juan Chair promoted by the UDC together with the Spanish Navy.

Throughout his speech, Carlos Elías, Professor of Journalism at the Carlos III University of Madrid (UC3M), will delve into how false information is produced and how it is transmitted. In the same way, he will also explain why conspiracy theories are so easily accepted by society as a whole. “Among the tools that will be mentioned to fight against disinformation are science and rational thinking, but also journalism, since the verification of a news item is inspired by the scientific method”, says the professor and populariser.

Attendance at the conference “Science and journalism as a tool against fake news” (Ciencia e Xornalismo como ferramenta contra as fake news) is free of charge until the room is filled.
