Ferrol, 4th of March 2024 – The Polytechnic School of Engineering of Ferrol (EPEF) is organising, in collaboration with the Industrial Campus of the University of A Coruña, its III Robotics Olympiad, a tournament aimed at secondary school students from all over Galicia. The event will take place on Friday 12th April, from 09:30 to 14:00 hours, at the Industrial Campus of Ferrol and in the covered pavilion of the Centro de Educación Infantil e Primaria de Esteiro.
Throughout the day, the participating students, divided into teams of between three and six people, will have to overcome three challenges: an obstacle course, the “Sweeper” test and a sumo competition. In the obstacle course, the robot must follow a printed trajectory and overcome the obstacles that get in its way. In the “Sweeper” test, students will have to use algorithms similar to those used by hoovers or lawn mowers to sweep all the objects on the board. The highest score will go to the team that manages to clear all the objects on the board in the shortest possible time. Finally, in the sumo competition, the teams will measure their strength in a head-to-head battle in which they will have to expel the opposing robot from the game board.
