Ferrol Industrial Campus hosts the first face-to-face meeting of the European offshore wind energy project SHOREWINNER

Ferrol, May 10th, 2024. The Conference Room of the Battalions Building of the Industrial Campus of Ferrol hosts, this Thursday 9th and Thursday 10th of May, the first face-to-face meeting of the Erasmus+ European Project Southern European Community for Offshore Wind Energy (SHOREWINNER). , a teaching innovation initiative that aims to create and develop a community of international cooperation between five southern European countries, all of them with a high potential in the field of offshore wind energy, with the aim of promoting the creation of a vocational training cycle that responds to the training needs of these territories and the demands of the labour market.

The Polytechnic Institute of Porto is leading a project in which different universities, institutions and companies from Cyprus, Greece, Italy, Portugal and Spain are participating under the auspices of the European Commission. The Spanish representation in this international cooperation community is headed by the University of A Coruña, the Centro Tecnolóxico do Mar (CETMAR Foundation), the Department of Education, Science, Universities and Vocational Training of the Xunta de Galicia and the Tenerife-based environmental consultancy Aquatera Atlántico SL. Together with them, also participating in this European project are the CIFP Ferrolterra, from Ferrol, the CIFP Valentín Paz Andrade, from Vigo, and the IES Universidade Laboral and the Centro de Innovación Docente de FP Eduardo Barreiros, from Ourense.

The European Project Erasmus+ Southern European Community for Offshore Wind Energy (SHOREWINNER) has a total budget of 3.980.424 euros. The University of A Coruña will have 329,915 euros to carry out its part of the project over the next four years, with the help of Félix Orjales Saavedra, professor at the University School of Industrial Design (EUDI), and Vicente Díaz Casás, professor at the Polytechnic School of Engineering in Ferrol (EPEF).
