Ferrol, 19th of February 2024.- The lecture hall of the Faculty of Humanities and Documentation of the Industrial Campus of Ferrol will be the venue this Wednesday 21st of February, 19:00 pm, the presentation of the book Hume. My dispute with Rousseau (Editorial Laetoli, 2023), written by José Luis Tasset, Professor of Moral Philosophy at the University of A Coruña. As the lecturer at the Faculty of Humanities and Documentation, José Luis Tasset, points out, this book presents, for the first time in Spanish, the correspondence exchanged by David Hume and Jean-Jacques Rousseau during the polemic they maintained in 1766, which led to the definitive rupture of their relationship of friendship and to the confrontation, at the end of the Enlightenment, of two models of theoretical and practical rationality, Hume’s utilitarianism and Rousseau’s romanticism. Together with the correspondence, the publication includes a textual introduction to the documents on the edited documents, a detailed chronology of the main events that gave rise to this events that gave rise to this disagreement, as well as an extensive epilogue which interprets this controversy and its meaning in the context of the European Enlightenment.

The work was published by Laetoli in collaboration with the University of A Coruña and the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities.
